Aruba Wireless Networks is blazing the trail to bring
scalable and secure Wi-Fi to enterprises everywhere.
Though Wi-Fi is easy and inexpensive to deploy at home,
it’s anything but that in the enterprise. A
single access point plugged into the existing corporate
network exposes the network and compromises the security
that IT has worked so hard to ensure. Coupled with
the security risks is the massive operational expense
associated with deploying and managing hundreds of
access points and coordinating how users access the
network and safely move about the corporation. Anytime
a change is made to the network, potentially hundreds
of access points must be physically or logically reconfigured.
This has made the deployment of Wi-Fi languishing
in corporations across the country.
To solve these problems, Aruba has innovated what it
calls a centralized Wi-Fi switching system. This system
integrates all the elements needed to automatically
deploy, manage and secure a wireless environment from
a single point within the corporation. Any changes
to the wireless network are implemented in one place
thereby eliminating the requirements for RF experts
to constantly monitor the Wi-Fi network and troubleshoot
remote user problems. Aruba’s Wi-Fi system can
also automatically detect malicious users and unauthorized
devices and proactively disable them.
Backing Aruba’s pioneering efforts are venture
capital pioneers in their own right. Aruba has secured
over $32 million in two rounds of financing from Matrix
Partners, Sequoia Capital, Trinity Venture Partners
and Lighthouse Capital. “Our venture capital
founders understand the significance of what Aruba
is pioneering and provide not only the capital but
the insight to help us succeed,” said Duston
Williams, chief financial officer at Aruba Wireless
Networks. “Lighthouse has a record of solid
investment and the experience that startups such as
Aruba find invaluable.”
Aruba’s revenue ramp and success in the market
reflects the thoughtfulness of its product. Many of
the world’s largest financial services, entertainment
and technology companies, have now standardized on
its Wi-Fi switching system. Aruba is now forging major
channels into the market that will maximize shareholder
value, provide unmatched market leverage, and speed
the company to profitability. Stay tuned.
